Week 10 : Akira

Acclaimed Japanese film  Akira released in 1988 follows a narrative of a "future" Tokyo set in 2019 where a secret military project endangers neo-Tokyo when it turns a biker gang member  into a rampaging threat that only those closest to him and a few gifted children can stop.  filled with plenty of violence and action , this story doesn't miss any of the stops when it comes to attention grabbing storyline. Amazing backgrounds and interesting characters make it all the better to sit down and really immerse yourself in the film. I had sat down to watch the film with some friends and getting to hear their recounts about what they experienced when they were younger watching this for the first time really solidifies how good this movie actually is to be able to mess with kids the way it did. The scene in particular that had me confused and a little scared was tetsuo lucid dream where children's toys come alive as these large monsters that reflect his darkest fears. 

  

things are melting, oozing , and crumbling away as they shape shirt into new and worse things as tetsuo struggles to figure out if he's lucid dreaming or awake. Finally after struggling to  come out he's unlocked the powers that have been plaguing him and he goes feral, breaking out of his confines and eviscerating anyone and anything in his way to find answers. over all i would recommend watching this film if you have a knack for action and syfy.
